The 2010 Spirit of KUAC Award recipient is Susie Hackett.
KUAC celebrated the hard work and dedication of its volunteers on Tuesday, April 22nd, 2010 at the Annual Volunteer Appreciation Party. We are thankful for our dedicated volunteers, and are thrilled for the opportunity to express our appreciation that our volunteers are our most precious natural resource! This Earth Day, volunteers had a chance to mingle with staff, family and friends and eat ice cream sundaes, as well as listen to the music of Pantheon Steel Drum band.
The Spirit of KUAC Award is presented at this event to a volunteer for his/her exceptional service to KUAC. Open nominations were accepted for 30 days and then forwarded to a selection committee of community members.

Comments from Susie Hackett’s nominator, Monte Lynn Jordan: Susie does a great job announcing and hosting programs, which is not surprising considering her background in theater and performing for an audience. She has a calm, reassuring voice with sufficient modulation to be interesting but not so much to be overly dramatic.
She is frequently on air. I'm wondering if she has a sleeping bag rolled up in the corner. I'm not sure what off air duties she may perform but it wouldn't surprise me to learn there were some. Certainly enough for her to sound prepared on air. The amount of time she "shows up", day after day, year after year, clearly that exemplifies dedication.
I don't know Susie well on a personal basis although we attended the same Yoga class for several sessions. But from that association and in passing conversations as well as her positive, realistic outlook plus the continued participation in her craft it is clear she has self-commitment.
