Richie Beattie

Richie Beattie of Two Rivers receives his official Quest finisher patch, given to those who successfully complete the race. Beattie won Rookie of the Year honors for being the top placing rookie, in 9th position.

Wayne Hall

Wayne Hall speaks before the hundreds of Quest supporters gathered in Whitehorse at the Finish Banquet. Hall won the Sportsmanship Award, chosen by the mushers. Hall’s adventure isn’t over—he’ll mush his team from Dawson home to Eagle, which is inaccessible by road in the winter.

The Yukon Quest officially wrapped up over the weekend with a finish banquet and awards. The last musher crossed the finish line Saturday morning at 6:39. Regina Wycoff claimed 11th place and won the Red Lantern for being the last musher. This year's Quest had a record low number of finishers. Just half the teams that started the race reached the end. Typically two-thirds of teams complete the 1,000 mile race. KUAC's Dan Bross and Libby Casey have this Yukon Quest wrap-up. Click here to Listen to the report.

Dave Dalton’s dogs

Dave Dalton’s dogs wear unique harnesses called “buggy harnesses,” designed to sit differently on their frames than the traditional X-back harness. Dalton says they put less strain on his team’s shoulders.
