Hans Gatt chats with Issac Depue

Hans Gatt chats with Issac Depue of Eagle about the good food locals supply for the Quest mushers.

Leaders close in on the halfway point. At least one dog team has been reported passing by the mouth of the 40 Mile River, for the final 50 mile run up the Yukon to Dawson City. The unconfirmed report by a long time resident at the old 40 mile town site, identified the musher as Lance Mackey. 40 Mile is a popular resting spot, but is not an official checkpoint, and mushers do not have to stop or sign in there. It's unclear if other mushers have also passed 40 Mile. KUAC's Dan Bross and Libby Casey. Click here to Listen to the report.

Leaders in the Yukon Quest are headed toward the race's halfway point at Dawson City. Three time Quest champion Hans Gatt was the first to leave the Eagle checkpoint for the 150 mile run to Dawson, just after noon yesterday. He was followed out by last year's Quest winner Lance Mackey, and William Kleedehn, over the next 3 hours. Also on the trail later in the afternoon were, Seabstian Schnuelle, Dave Dalton and Gerry Willowmetzer. KUAC's Dan Bross and Libby Casey have more. Click here to Listen to the report.

Hugh Neff

Hugh Neff arrives in Eagle in forth position. From there, teams make the push to Dawson City, the race’s halfway point. Last year Neff was the first to reach there.
